It won't park like a passenger car. Most of the time, you should be at a complete stop, completely moving your wheel one way or the other before applying any gas. Then you go very slow and line it up as well as you can. It's still tricky. Personally I just skip self parking because it takes too long and the EXP awards aren't worth it. You can always use the third-person camera to help when learning and as you get better, you will automatically just use your mirrors in the cab if you keep at it. The Volvo FH series, and possibly others, does have forward collision sensors to help prevent tired or inattentive drivers from plowing into the back of other cars on the freeway.
